JOINT WORKSHOP ON FISCAL FEDERALISM, PUBLIC, REGIONAL AND URBAN ECONOMICS
CALL FOR PAPERS

Brasília, Brazil, May 10-11, 2018

On May 10 and 11, 2018, a two-day Joint Workshop on Fiscal Federalism, Public, Regional and Urban Economics will be held at the Campus II of the Catholic University of Brasília – SGAN 916, Av. W5 Norte, Brasília DF, Brazil. The workshop is co-organized by the University of Alberta (U of A, Canada), the Catholic University of Brasilia (UCB) and University of Brasilia (UnB). We cordially invite you to participate in this workshop by submitting your work on theoretical or applied economics in fiscal federalism, public economics, regional economics or urban economics. While the main topic of the workshop is fiscal federalism, we will accept papers on public, regional and urban economics that analyze governmental decision-making process or the implications of governmental policy (designed by subnational and federal governments).

FISCAL FEDERALISM

In light of recent developments in federations worldwide, particularly what seems a growing wave of political, social and economic tensions at sub-central government levels, the main motivation for this workshop is to attract a select number of high-quality submissions that will enable both presenters and the audience to discuss relevant issues and attempt to advance sound policy recommendations. The workshop will feature a mix of keynote speeches, paper sessions and roundtables.

SELECTION PROCESS AND IMPORTANT DATES

There is no charge for participation in the conference (the registration fee is kindly sponsored by the organizing institutions). Those interested in participating should submit a paper in English (PDF version) by March 30, 2018 to the following address: [email protected].

The organizing committee will announce the decision on accepted papers via e-mail by April 6, 2018. The program and other conference information will be available by April 30, 2018.
